Is Intake Of Ecosprin During Pregnancy Safe While On Thyronorm?

Hi. I am 16 weeks pregnant with my first baby.age 26. Wt 69 kg.ht 5 4.Taking thyronorm since six years. Presently I m on thyronorm 125 mcg . tsh is 1.5 .BP is 100/70 No h/o miscarriage/ hypertension/ cardiac problems. My doctor prescribed me ecosprin 75 now. What is the need..is it indicated?

Hi & Welcome.
I appreciate your concern for the safety & the purpose of taking Ecosprin during pregnancy while on Thyronorm.

Ecosprin 75 (low dose Aspirin) is a blood thinner.

As it lowers the resistance to blood flow, thus making more blood flow to the baby & hence prescribed in pregnancy to prevent miscarriage in high risk pregnancy like one that is associated with hypothyroidism.

There were no interactions found between Ecosprin and Thyronorm during pregnancy hence it is safe to take.

However Ecosprin can cause gastritis, dyspepsia, etc.

It is continued till 36 weeks of pregnancy and then stopped 24 hrs before the delivery.
