General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Although not many studies are available for use of alprazolam (Restyl) in pregnancy. However, data are suggestive of congenital malformation on using Restyl in the first trimester. Also, there are reports of withdrawal symptoms in a baby born to a mother on alprazolam. Babies develop sleeping problems and irritability. So I suggest not to use Restyl during pregnancy. As far as sleep problems are concerned, I advise you to have morning mild exercise and meditation. Also, start walking in the morning and evening. It will help you in getting proper sleep.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regard,

Dr. Hiren Hirpara
