Is Intake Of Antihistamine Safe While On Narcotics?
IIs it o.k. to take a mild over the counter antihistamine while on narcotics? I currently take Morphine 60 mg extended release twice a day. Four times a day 10 mg. oxycontin for break away pain. I have alka seltzer plus. In the past that has helped my symptoms. Thanks

You didn't mention the name of antihistamine , so I am writing down about few antihistamine ( popular ).
Ceterizine , if taken together with morhine may potentiate effect of antihistamine.
.
Chlorpheniramine maleate may potentiate the sedative effect of opiod ( morphine & oxycontine).
Clemastine may potentiate the sedative effects of cns depressant ( morphine).
Usually all the antihistamine depress the cns with morphine ( opiod drugs ).
So please be careful.
