Is Intermittent Spotting With Cramps Indicative Of Withdrawal Bleeding After Discontinuing Depo Shots?

I stop taking depo in December 2016. I had to take my last shot between the 8th and the 21st of December. I had unprotected sex a few times in jan and feb of 2017. I have been spotting off and on for 2 months with cramps. I usually have my cycles for 7 days 28 day cycle. I have been spotting for longer than 7 days each time I spot. I'm having pms symptoms but the duration is longer and lighter than normal. Is this withdrawal bleeding or my period?

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your health concern with us. I have gone through your query and would like to offer my suggestion. Return of ovulation after the depo shot can vary with each individual but on an average stands at 6-9 months. The cycles usually return to normal within two to three months. Presently, you seem to be having withdrawal effects of the hormone and hence the abnormal menstrual pattern. If you do not see things in the normal state even after another month, please get help from your health care provider. Hope this helps.
