Is Involuntary Shivering After Eating Pine Nuts Suggestive Of Allergic Reaction?

my son is 15, he went to bed fell to sleep. 10 minutes later, he waked up and shaking and cold. His body shaking so big and scaring me so much. He told me he is so cold. The shaking stopped for a minutes and come back again. repeated several times. I was so scared. I asked him what he ate. He said he ate a lot of pine nuts. He was not allergic with pine nut before. I give him big dosage of digestive enzyme to drink. Finally now the shaking stop it. He is fell to sleep again. I would like to know if this is because he is allergic to pine nuts. What should I do now? Is there still a risk? Thank you so much

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be an allergic reaction.

As a first line management you can take antihistamines like cetirizine for symptomatic relief.

If lesion persists better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
