Is Irregular Heart Beat Due To Lack Of Sleep?

Hello. Last night I felt my heart fluttering every minute or so, not normal for me. It doesn t do this when I stand but only when I sit. I decided to take my blood pressure & pulse and my bp was 125/85 and pulse was 65 but my bp device listed irregular heartbeat . Not sure if this is from too much coffee or lack of sleep or if its something more serious (ie: should I go to the emergency room or wait a day to see if the irregular heartbeat stops).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I can understand your concern.
i would like to know your age and the profession you are in.
In your question, you have mentioned you havent had sufficient sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to palpitations. Is some thing bothering you of late? Stress and anxiety can lead to irregular heart beat and palpitations.
I would advise you to not take it lightly.
An ECG would give us an idea if you do have an irregular heart beat or not.
If ecg is normal, an anxiolytic like alprazolam for a few days would suffice your problem
Hope, i have clarified your query. Have a good day
I find this answer helpful
