Is Irregular Menstrual Flow Normal During Menstruation?

ive been on the pill for four months yet i keep getting my period or what i think is my period early. this month i got it 10 days early and its been 6 days and all im getting is heavy bleeding in the morning and a light period during the rest of the day. is this normal?
