Is It A Concern When Small Peri-esophageal Nodes Are Similar And Likely Reactive According To A CT Scan?

I had a CT-ABD W/W/O Contrast and the findings is this. Lower chest: Minimal anterior right lung bases scarring. Heart size upper normal, without pericardial or pleural effusion. Small periesophageal nodes are similar and likely reactive. Cholecystectomy common duct measures 13mm on coronal image 56 of series 9. this is similar to Scan on 10/11/15. This one is my concern: Small periesophageal nodes are similar and likely reactive???? what does that mean?

Hi,

Small peri esophagal lymph nodes are a common finding on CT chest scan and I regularly find it in my practice. There is no reason to panic and it is likely reactive, meaning probably due to a mild infection.

The general findings are the same as mentioned from the previous CT scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vivek Chail, Radiologist
