Is It Advisable To Remove Wisdom Tooth When Having Bad Taste In Mouth?

My wisdom tooth is causing a rotting taste in my mouth, my dentist this confirmed it was the wisdom tooth. I was given antibiotics and they didn't work. I am now encountering some pain, should the tooth be removed? I have also encountered this rotting taste for a while and been feeling very tired, could this effect fatigue?

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

In case if the wisdom tooth is causing you discomfort and bad taste in mouth it is most probable that the wisdom tooth is infected or the gum flap over the wisdom tooth has got inflamed (PERICORONITIS) due to infection or trauma leading to severe pain and there can be pus discharge as well as bad taste in mouth..

The fatigue can be due to generalization of the infection in the body secondary to swallowing of pus as well as progression of infection in blood..

I would therefore suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical examination and also advise you x ray of the wisdom tooth..
In case of infection you can be advised a course of antibiotics like Augmentin, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and along with it do warm saline gargles, gargle with antiseptic mouthwash as well as keep the area clean and do not let food accumulation..

In case if the symptoms does not improve then either removal of gum flap or extraction of tooth can help..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
