Is It Advisable To Undergo Surgery For Fibroid Problem In Case Of Hiv Patient?
Dear Sir, My sister was tested for hiv positive in 2006. we came to know about this only in 2006 when she wanted to udergo surgery for her fybroid problem. Because of this, she could not underwent surgery and has been leading a normal life since then. She has been using arv drugs for the past 3 years. She is complaining about severe stomach pain and the local doctors (they are not aware of her her disease) have suggested an operation. She now want to undergo surgery. Now I would like to know whether there are any doctors who perform surgery on such patients (either in guntur or vijayawada). Please advise

Hello, HIV per se is not a contraindication for fibroid surgery. If your gynaecologists have suggested you surgery instead of searching a special HIV surgeon you can directly discuss with them the status of your sister most probably they will agree to go ahead as there is no different treatment for HIV patients with fibroid.All the best !!

Hello.In your case it all depends on the level of cd 4 count and associated blood profile ..If you are still on ART and don't have associated active infections than there is no harm in performing surgery .for severe stomach pain you should consult your physician to rule out pancreatitis as it is life threatening condition..have abdominal ultrasound and serum amylase lipase level.
