Is It Advisable To Wear A Tampon?

My 13 year old daughter never had her period, but had some spots on her panties 24 days ago. We are waiting to see what happens next. I was 11 when I started mine. I keep telling her to wear a pad just in case in comes again. Also, when she finally is regular, since she is very active in sports, is it OK for her to wear a tampon?? Obviously, she never has had sex. My Mother never let me wear one until I was older.
