Is It Good To Give Aleve To A Diabetic Person For Pain Relief?

My 59 yr old wife fell and landed on the corner of the sink. landing on the middddle of butt cheek. It is bruised swollen and painfull. I put ice on it and gave her an Aleve for the pain. She had a heart attach in January and is type 2 diebetic. Was I OK wiyh the Aleve? Does she need to go to the emergency room.

Dear Friend.
Hi , I am Dr Anshul Varshney , I have read your query in detail , I understand your concern.
Giving a single tablet of Aleve should not be a problem , if your wife does not have kidney involvement due to diabetes. If she has , these group of drugs (NSAIDs) should be avoided.
However , since she is 59 years , just make sure she has no fractures , as they are common in old age especially fractures due to fall.
If she has persistent pain and swelling especially at her hip joint or leg , take her to ER , for evaluation and appropriate treatment.
This is my personal opinion based on details available here. If you want to discuss your issues further, you may please ask me through Premium Query directed on my name. I will help you my best.
Stay Healthy.
