Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yesterday I had a lot of stress in the morning, right after that I started feeling chest pain and also back pain , directly opposit to chest pain site. It was not too strong, but in the late evening I went to ER, they did ECG and chest x-ray , and said both were OK. The doctor also said that the way I described it, like pain is worse with deep breath , it does not sound like heart problem. Today I went to work and now I am in even greater pain. Can it still be heart even if ECG was good yesterday ? What else can it be?
Did your doctor check to see if maybe you had a hiatal hernia? This would probably make you feel short of breathe and is commonly confused with chest pain. Might want to give your doctor another call. Also do you have reflux? A hiatal hernia might cause you to have reflux as well. Anxiety can also cause chest discomfort. Just a thought. Hope you feel better! Also just because your ECG looked okay doesn't totally eliminate other issues with the heart. I would check with your insurance to see if it requires a referral and if not make an appointment with a Cardiologist. If it does call your PCP to see if they will see you. Better to be safe than sorry. Women describe chest pain differently than men. An Echo might be more helpful to look at the structure of your heart and the valves and possibly a stress test is needed. Check your family history too!
