Is It Necessary To Apply Steroid Cream For Schamberg S Disease?

My 19 years old son diagnosed with Schamberg s disease. He got this rusty marks on his legs only. 1 year before, a dermatologist told me it is the blood oozing out and do not worry and asked to take vit C. Now, the area increased. Now , we consulted another doctor and he diagnosed it as the above one and asked to take Licomin , anti oxidant, and apply momate-xl ointment at night. Is it necessary to use this steroid creme? Will the marks disappear? Thanks in advance

Welcome to healthcare magic,
Schamberg s disease is a benign condition but a difficult disease to treat and cure. Both the doctors have given correct treatments. Topical steroid will help decrease the marks , but follow Doctor's advise and do not use it long term without supervision. Vitamin C is again another established treatment. It is not necessary always to use steroid cream, but with or without it the marks won't disappear, it will improve.
You should also rule out varicose veins which can be a cause of Schamberg's disease.
