Is It Necessary To Bleed Post Intake Of I Pill To Control Conception?
Hi, I had unprotected sex,due to condom ruptured while having sex,on 16th morning.I took i-pill in 16th evening. Now,Its 17 night neither I had any bleeding nor any side effect symptoms. My last period date is 29 Nov.to 4 Dec,Now I am worried if this may lead to pregnancy ... Is it essential to bleed just after intake of i-pill to not to get pregnant.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. i pill is an emergency contraceptive pill. It needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. Earlier it is taken, it would be better. What you have done appears to be right by taking it within specified time. Experiencing side effects of the tablet is not a must and many of them would not experience any side effects. The pill will prevent pregnancy by causing withdrawal bleeding in the form of periods within 3 weeks from the day of taking the pills. In case this does not happen in 3 weeks, you need to seek medical attention immediately as the pill has a failure rate of about 10 to 15%. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
