Is It Normal For One Having Thyroid To Get Long Periods ?
hi, my mom has a thyroid condition and often times has menstrual bleeding that goes on for 3wks stops for one or two to start again. the last doctor she saw said this was normal but i dont feel it is. is there anything she can do to fix this. also does anyone have any suggestion on healthy ways for her to lose weight? thanks

get the thyroid profile tested & start treatment.As in hypothyroidism weight increases .For bleeding get her sonography done to know the cause & endometrial biopsy .Only than you can find the right track.Disclaimer

She can see a homeopathic physician for this condition (thyroid and menorrhagia). Weight loss is a gradual process involving a balanced & planned diet, acitivity & exercise .
No its not normal to have bleeding for 3 weeks. Thyroid discorders do lead to irregular menses , heavy flow , sometimes amenorrhoea etc.
But if she is taking medication and the thyroid condition is under control, menses should become normal. Further investigations are needed, and may be a second opinion from another physician.
