Hi, You may be having perimenopausal or postmenopausal bleeding. During perimenopause or menopause, the hormones produced by ovary tend to become decreased and hence the ovaries start becoming small and stopping the ovulation many a times. Due to instability of hormone levels, irregular periods or bleeding starts. Usually during perimenopausal or post-menopausal period, this type of bleedings may stop itself, once the level of ovarian hormones is stable. However, if it persists long or the bleeding is heavy, then other causes like uterine fibroids, polyps, endometrial cancer, endometriosis etc., should be ruled out by further investigations like transvaginal sonography, endometrial biopsy etc., and the treatment should be done accordingly.
