hi, I recently visited a psychiatrist for two 30 minute sessions. My grievance was simple, regarding an overbearing parent and overbearing family member. Whose behaviour has greatly affected my social standing with peers and teachers, causing difficulties in school and the workplace. I had expected to be called back for counselling or group discussions but was instead prescribed with escitalopram and olanzapine. Is this normal procedure or a bit aggressive in terms of a first line treatment? The doctor I visited wasn t in my country of residence. I am currently vacation in the country of the aforementioned family member. Who is also in the medical field and has my friends in that community. And both my parent and said relative have a history of using underhand behaviour, which has later come to light, to accomplish what they always claim is the greater good. There is also a custom of fraternity in this country where ethical practices are circumvented at the behest of a friend or fellow in a similar field.
