Is It Normal To Get Erections Throughout The Day?

why do men get erections throughout the day with no reason or cause for i know someone who gets these erections and he says he doesnt know why it happens and that there is no reason he cant figure it out he will be alone at time and nothing that is around to arouse him

is this normal and what causes this
