Hello Doctor , I am 23 yrs and been married for 2 years now. I have recently inserted copper IUD. when I inserted, that time i felt a muscle cramps but it did not prolong. now after 2 weeks , i really dont know whether i have my periods, because i have bleedings only at nights and the flow is lesser in the morning with no pain. but at nights flow is much with unbearable pain. should i have to remove it.. will it damage my uterus and will it change my course of pregnancy.will i get pregnant.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You can expect to have some cramping and spotting after IUD insertion in the first few months, especially in the first two weeks and sometimes lasting as long as six months. Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for the cramps.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
