Is It Normal To Have Burning Tongue After Tonsillectomy?

I am 49 and had a tonsilectomy 5 weeks ago. I think my thriat is recovering fairly well although I still have some oain and discomfort daily, especially on one side whic radiates to my ear. My main problem now is that the front if my tounge us burning all the time, and it feels like my saliva is thicker than usual. Is thus normal and whst can I do to get rid of it?

Hello

No this is not normal and your burning sensation can be due to injury to your tongue during the surgery. I would like you to meet your operating doctor , who will examine you and guide you further. Meanwhile you can apply mucaine gel on the tip of your tongue 2-3 times a day , this may reduce the burning sensation.
