Is It Normal To Have Continuous Hiccups After Having A Cardial Drug Eluting Stent?

Hi,my dad had a cardial drug eluting stent 4 days ago,he s been taking 2 pills of plavix daily,1 lipitor,1 aspirin.....10 hours after this stent was put,he s been suffering from moderate to severe continious hiccups...is that normal?is this related to the stent or the medications?what i can do to make it stop?thanx.

Dear Friend

Hiccups in this case can be due to
1. Acid peptic problems as a result of aspirin.
2. Kidney dysfunction , if contrast is used during angigraphy.

I advice for a Serum Creatinine check up.

I prefer to add drugs like pantoprazole to my patients whom i am prescribing such medicines.

Discuss with your doctor regarding addition of Pantoprazole.
