Hi,

Thyroid hormone affects menstrual periods so after total thyroidectomy there is possibility of changes in menstrual patterns. You would need replacement of the hormone after operation for regulating menstrual cycles. Please consult your surgeon / an endocrinologist. Muscle pain after thyroidectomy can be temporary after thyroidectomy, it is because of extended neck position during the surgery.

Over the counter pain medicines (Ibuprofen / paracetamol) will help the pain. Regular moderate neck exercises are needful according to the surgeons recommendations. If the pain last longer, there may be low activity of parathyroidismafter removal of surgery. In such a case, calcium supplement would be needful. Please consult your surgeon / endocrinologist for personal advise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
