Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Headcahe after
head injury can occur for hours to few days. But if headache is progressively increasing in severity or not relieving with medication or associated with vomiting/vertigo/
loss of consciousness, it is dangerous. If you are having similar kind of symptom, you must consult ER. At home, you should
: Avoid painkiller which can cause sedation
: Turn head to side in case of vomiting
: Keep head at higher level than chest
If you are having mild headache, severity decreasing with time, relief with medication, your
disorientation and slowness are decreasing, then it appears to be mild head injury. You can take painkiller like
Diclofenac sodium for pain relief after proper prescription. You can apply cold compresses at injury site.
If still no relief and disorientation is increasing, you should consult ER. You might be advised CT scan of head after evaluation to rule out skull
bone fracture or intracranial bleed. Further management will be decided after CT findings.
Thanks. Hope it will help you. Take care.
