Is It Normal To Have Herpes Lesions All Over Legs?

I was diagnosed with herpes simplex type 2 but have never had an outbreak before. I do not know what it looks like and currently have a rash on my left calf and individual what look like blisters or bites all over my legs. What could it be? Can you get herpes 2 on other parts of your body?

Hello,

Herpes 2 mainly affects the lower half of the body in most of the individuals. Have you got it checked by a dermatologist? If not then its better to get it examined before starting any medications. If its herpes 2 then you have to take antiviral medications to control the outbreak.

Once its a confirmed herpes 2 infection then only the antiviral treatment will work. If the cause is something else like bacterial or allergic then appropriate treatment for that must be given to avoid complications.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
