General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

In my knowledge, it is normal to have irregular periods and spotting once you stop taking oral contraceptives after using them for long periods of time. I would just reassure you and advice you to wait and if the periods remain irregular even after 6 months then consult your gynecologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
