Is It Normal To Have Itching Problem In Pregnancy?

I am pregnant and aged 32, 65 KG and 5ft 4 inchs of height in 33.5 weeks of pregnancy. I am having itching and thus the doctor asked for certain test. My test shows SGPT (ALT) 198 IU/L and Alkaline Phosphate 248 IU/L. Is it normal or should I consult a doctor.

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

Alkaline phosphate is usually seen three times the normal range in third trimester of the pregnancy. Regarding Alanine transaminase, we consider more than 200IU to be significant and some books suggests more than 300IU in the third week of pregnancy.

As both the readings are under the range and you are in the 33rd week of pregnancy, by this time all the parts of the baby would be developed and it won't harm the baby.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions, I will be happy to help.

Thank you.
