General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

General recommendation is to avoid cutting the tablet since certain drugs may not be absorbed properly and also the drug may not be distributed equally in the cut tablets.

Thyroxine can cause palpitations, tremors, anxiety or jitters when taken above normal dose.Dose reduction may be required in order to reduce your symptoms.

With respect to Levothyroxine, you can cut the tablet.I would recommend you to cut the tablet and take one half a day before food until you are able to get an appointment with your Doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards
