Is It Normal To Have Severe Pain In Hamstring And Calf Post Fluid Drainage From Knee?

Yes, I have had serve knee pain for 2weeks, finally seen by an orthopedic doctor today, he drained 16cc of fluid from my right knee and gave me a cortisone shot, what is the yellow fluid, does it get tested or is this normal. I also am having a lot of debilitating pain now radiating around me hamstring down to my calf! Is this normal?

Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the site of drainage from the knee is of paramount importance to reveal the post operative sequences. If it was the posterior aspect of the knee for fluid drainage, then pain in hamstring and calf is acceptable post procedure, but not in case of anterior or lateral drainage.
