Is It Normal To Have Shortness Of Breath And Heart Rate At 55 At The Age Of 57?
A few times, I have been trying to explain something to someone at work, and I find that I am probably talking quickly and find that I am becoming breatless or struggling for air. Is this normal. I am 57 and female , have hypertension that needs treatment but generally feel ok . heart rate is normally about 55 per min.
Hi and welcome to HCM. Shortness of breath have many reasons and it needs to be evaluated by a doctor. If you are experiencing this more often and if associated with wheeze, it could be allergic condition. 55 heart rate is normal and it varies among people. Some may have 50 or 80 heart rate but they will be normal. If you are hypertensive why you have not taken any treatment, this could be dangerous to you. I suggest you to consult a local doctor and then take treatment for hypertension. Avoid salt in diet, do some physical exercise (after treatment for shortness of breath), avoid oil and fats. All the best Regards Dr Santosh
