Is It Normal To Have Swollen Finger Post Skin Tear On Index Finger?
Yesterday morning I got a skin tear on my index finger. rinsed with warm water applied pressure to stop bleeding put neosporon on it and bandaged. took bandaged off this evening finger is swollen. and under skin looks like dry blood. Is this normal or is it signs of infection?
Hi, Thanks for writing your query. After reading your post, it seems that your symptoms are due to inflammatory reaction in response to injury. In addition to aseptic dressing you can take an anti inflammatory like Ibuprofen twice daily after meals along with serratiopeptidase and an antacid. If your symptoms persists, get your finger examined by your doctor. I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
Swelling is the normal inflammatory response to any trauma though it can also be seen in an infection. Infection would also be accompanied by increased warmth, increasing tenderness, discharge, increasing redness.
Since the injury occurred only yesterday then you can consider monitoring for now. The use of antiseptic cleaning solution and the topical antibiotic can be continued.
If any signs/symptoms of infection occur then you should visit your doctor.
I hope this helps
