Is It Normal To Have Tissue Like Vaginal Discharge After Undergoing An Abortion?

I just had a abortion yesterday. I am not bleeding anymore, but I'm having some mucus that look like tissue from my inside. Is this normal or is it a infection from the cut I got from the dilator that the doctor put in me the day before the surgery. I am very concern. Is this normal?

Hello,
If there was a cut from the dilator, you should be bleeding. Since the bleeding is absent, this may not be the cause. If the tissue that was passed looked like a piece of meat, this is more likely to be a product. You should watch for more such discharge, retain it and see your specialist for a visual and if needed, a pathologist's opinion. If there are no other issues like foul smell, pain, persistent bleeding, you can wait until you get a follow up sonogram to see if there are any retained products of conception. Hope this helps.
