Is It Normal To Pass Black, Pea-sized Stool And Gooey Material Two Days After An Appendectomy And Recent Diarrhea?

Hello, my 85 yr old mom had appendectomy 2 days ago, and she noticed black peasize pieces of stool onnher panty and then wiped off a tablespoonful of black gooey material from her anus. She had her last stool a day ago after diarrhoea. Is that normal?
