Is It Ok To Fly Again With Clogged Ear Caused Due To Flying With No Help From Decongestants?
MY left ear has been clogged ever since landing from a 2 hour flight 3 days ago. I have tried all of the home remedies and also taken two separate decongestants. Nothing has worked and I fly again today. 1. Is it ok to fly? 2. Is there anything else I could try?
Understanding your concern. As per your query clogged sensation in the ears which is pointing towards a condition known eustachian tube dysfunction as eustachian tube is a small tube that connects middle ear to oral cavity and balance the pressure between the two and due to flight and other pressure imbalance occurs in pressure. Need not to worry. You can fly. Avoid excessive blowing from nose. A void touching or pricking ear with any sharp object. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination and get complete examination of your ear canals and eardrums, and your nasal passages and the back of your throat. Doctor may also prescribe decongestant to reduce the swelling of the lining of the tubes , antihistamine and antibiotics. Doctor may also implanting pressure equalization tubes .
