Is It Period That I Got After Taking Contraceptive Pill?

i got off my period a week before the condom broke and i the day after i took an emergency contraceptive next choice. a week after taking the 2 pills i got a period as it seemed. was this a period or was this something else? because after the whatever that was i went to get a pregnancy test from a clinic and it said i was not pregnant
