Is It Possible For A Pacemaker To Delay In Sending Electrical Impulses ?

is it possible for a pacemaker to delay in sending electrical impulses to get the heart back to normal? when my heart slows right down to the verge of it stopping, my pacemaker takes awhile to kick it back to normal rythem, although it has happened a couple of times the last episode was quite frightening.
