Is It Possible To Bleed Heavily During Pregnancy?

Okay so I had the Mirena in and absolutely l loved it, no periods or complications at all!! I took it out just 8 months early on (6/11/11) to have another baby. My husband and I have been trying everyday for almost 2 months, taking pregnancy test almost every week and waiting for the signs, still with no period yet.Which I found strange since I haven't had one in so long. My doctor said you normally get pregnant right away. Last weekend it was positive and I started to have early symptoms. But the lines were very faint on the test. So I waited a week and tested last night, again very faint line but a positive. Then this afternoon I started bleeding and cramping really bad. And I am bleeding much more than when I had my last miscarriage. Alot more actually, like a heavy period. So I took a digital pregnancy test just now and it read Pregnant! I am just really confused now. Am I pregnant and just had a miscarriage or did I just start my period???????????? Or could it be something else???? Please help!! Oh and I am 25 years old and weigh about 165. I am about 5'4 and have had 2 children( ages:4 & 6) totally healthy with a miscarriage in between. Please help me should I go to the hospital???

Hello and welcome,

I am Dr Madhuri a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist and will be helping you with your queries.
A positive pregnancy test followed by bleeding does suggest that there was a pregnancy and this bleeding is most likely a miscarriage.

So it is best to see your doctor immediately and get further evaluation. Sometimes the pregnancy can be saved by using drugs like progesterone.

If the pregnancy is not retrievable then surgical completion of the process by a procedure called curettage may be needed.

So kindly see your doctor as soon as possible.

Hope this satisfies your query.
