Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
hello i was just drinking water and these weird ball things came out of my mouth. they were mostly white and solid but mostly soft and they had a little twinge of red (blood?). i spit them out in the water and they eventually kind of shrunk. could this be tonsil stones ?
As per your complain yes, it is true that a white and solid buts oft ball like structure that comes out on coughing seems to be most probably tonsil stone, also known as Tonsillolith.. They are formed due to calcification of food particles and dirt that gets accumulated over the tonsils and are a potent cause for recurring inflammation of tonsils and bad breath.... I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and he can confirm by doing a clinical evaluation.. In case of tonsillolith the physician can remove it manually.. You can be advised to gargle with 1;1 solution of hydrogen peroxide and water.. Do warm saline gargles.. Limit intake of dairy as it is high in calcium and can accelerate the stone formation.. You should also always gargle after meals..
Any further questions are welcome..
Regards..
