At 4 - 6 weeks
pregnancy, the HCG can go as high as 50 - 60000.
However, that would definitely be accompanied by a
fetal pole at 6 weeks in a viable pregnancy.
Was the scan done vaginally ?
Abdominal scans have poor resolution
SO ensure that scan is done vaginally.
Also, it could indicate a
blighted ovum or a vesicular mole, where the chorionic tissue proliferates to form a kind of benign tumour .
In twin pregnancies too, such high levels are seen.
What you can do is wait for a week , and then have a repeat scan.
There is no point repeating in just two days.
Do not
stress out meanwhile, continue taking
folic acid.
