Is It Possible To Get Pregnant By Protected Sex Despite Being On Depo Shot?
Hi I just had a baby on April 19 of this year 2 days later I had a depo shot now I haven t had a shot since then. I had a period last month plus me and my partner had unprotected sex around the time of me being fertile my cycle is back to normal can I get pregnant?
You seem to have taken nice a due precaution to avoid pregnancy. Depo (Provera) is a very good progesterone preparation to give protection against pregnancy. You are taking it regularly.
Your Question mentions protected sex while the description mentions unprotected sex. I believe this is unprotected sex. The egg release takes place (if at all) around 14 days prior to next period. Egg has 24 hours life while the sperms are active for 72 hours. So a period of about 8 days around the egg formation is a fertile period. If you have sex beyond that period, the chances of pregnancy will still be minimized. Moreover, since you are on Depo, the chances of pregnancy are very low.
Wait for your menses. Due to Depo, the bleeding during menses may be low. If you get menses, you are not pregnant. Otherwise get Beta hCG pregnancy test done for confirming the suspicion of pregnancy.
Till that please relax. Stress of unwanted pregnancy is also known to delay the menses.
