Is It Required To Take Udiliv For Fatty Liver Grade-2?

Dear Doctor My wife is 42 years old and I did her Complete Health Plan tests and the following is the result: LFT All parameters normal Lipid Profile Cholosterol 203, Triglycerides 144, HDL Cholosterol 43, LDL Cholosterol 131, VLDL Cholosterol 28. However her abdominal USG shows Grade-2 Fatty Liver. Her weight is 84 Kgs, and she has already reduced her intake of rice so as to reduce the weight. A General physician has prescribed UDILIV-300 (1-BD) for a period of 4 to 5 months and reduction of weight and avoiding fatty diet. Kindly suggest if I should go for this medication and whether any other precautions is required to be taken? Nazir Ahmad Srinagar J&K

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Usually in non alcoholic fatty liver disease some drugs are used to decrease glucose resistance, so some physicians prescribed metformin and glimepride but still the main treatment option and choice is weight reduction and serial abdominal ultrasound to detect any unwanted change in liver architecture. Thus my advise to you to remain calm and cool and concentrate on weight reduction
