Is It Safe For A Child To Fly While Having Swollen Adenoids?

My child has swollen adenoids and is booked for surgery in 7 weeks. We are flying with him in 2 weeks and will be returning 2 weeks from that date. Are their high risks when flying and what can be done about the fluid on his ears and the painful pressure change?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

He can fly without any concerns. However ask him to swallow small amount of fluids in between because there is high chance of Eustachian tube dysfunction and ear discomfort with swollen adenoids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
