Is It Safe For Kids To Get Tonsils Removed?

my grandson 9 yrs old had strep throat for quite some time. They said he was a carrier. He had his tonsils removed about 10 days ago. The doc said the tonsils were about falling apart. After surgery he was very dizzy. He is so bad now that everything spins and when he tries to stand up, he has to have support, because he loses control of his arms and legs. He is in the hospital now, and have run a lot of tests, but cannot come up with what is wrong.

Hello,
Thanks for posting here.
Your grandson needs thorough evaluation and testing his blood counts to know the nature of giddiness. Surgery is performed under general anaesthesia , so it would cause weakness for sometime. Other than this surgery per se will not cause these symptoms. Other ENT causes of giddiness such as migraine, vestibular neuronitis have to be ruled out.
Happy to answer your further queries.
Hoping a fast recovery of your grandson.
