Hello
I have gone through your question and understood your concern.

I want to say that Contraceptives are not primarily intended to treat pimple or Acne problems.

According to American Academy of Dermatology the first choice for the treatement of pimples should be Benzoyl peroxide or salycilic acid.
The first kills bacteria and gets rid of some of the oil and dead skin cells and the second helps unplug pores.

As second choise your doctor can prescribe oral antibiotics.

These medicine can be in lotions, gels, cleansers, creams and washes.

Contaceptives are typically started after other acne treatments, such as topical creams and oral antibiotics, have failed to clear up the skin.

I want to say that only three types of birth control pills have been approved by the FDA for treating acne(Ortho Tri-Cyclen,Estrostep and YAZ).
Althea is not one of these.

So,my answer for you is:it is not the right choise and (according to this)it is not safe to use this type of contraceptive pill for your specific problem.

You should discuss with your dermatologist about the right acne treatement for you and if you doctor decide for contraceptive pills than you should consult a local endocrinologist about the best hormonal pills for acne in your specific case.

My advices for you:
Avoid picking the skin or “popping” pimples, which could make acne worse or result in scars.

You need to be patient. It can take six to eight weeks for treatment to work. If your face doesn't look better after 10 weeks,Than you should try something new.

Hope this information is helpful.
If you have other doubts, feel free and ask.
Best regards.
