Is It Safe Ti Take Proluton Depot 500 Injection During 2nd Trimester Of Pregnancy?

hi...i am 17 weeks pregnant and i took proluton depot 500 injection weekly from 1and half months to 3 months..and now i am taking it every after 2 weeks...doctor advised me to continue this for whole 2nd trimester....is it safe to have this for me as well as my baby???

Progesterone is the hormone of pregnancy, which helps in maintenance of pregnancy.
Proluton deposit contains hydroxyprogesterone hexanoate.
It belongs to category B drug in pregnancy.
According to that there was no adverse effects on fetus reported in animal studies. But sufficient human studies are lacking.
According to the available human studies there is no possible harm to the fetus with this drug.

So, you can continue the medicine as advised by your doctor.
