Is It Safe To Prozac While On Oxycodone?

I was just put on Prozak for my serious depression. I have fought it most of my life. I also have Serious Pain from Fibromyalgia, have also fought it for many years. Debilitating Pain and Fatique.I am on Oxycodone for my Pain. It does Help me function thru my Days .Is it Safe for me to Take Them Together? 20 mg. Prozak 5mg oxy? Have taken Percocet, not as Effective,And Bad Side Effects for me. The only Side Effects I am having from the New Combination is Nausea, and Some Itching. Is this Serious? I am Seeing Good Results so far From the Prozak, and would like to continue,but My Pain is also a Huge Issue, so also feel I do need Effective Pain Relief!! Really Need Your Expertise! Will Be So Much Appreciated. Thank You So Much For Your Time.

I can understand your concern. Prozac is Fluoxetine and the drug is a SSRI drug used in depression and anxiety disorders. Oxycodone is an opioid drug used in a number of pain conditions. Both drugs are safe to use and are free of serious side effects if used under prescribed doses.

Yes you can take 20 mg Prozac along with 5 mg Oxycodone and no need to worry. Both drugs if used together don't result in significant pharmacological drug interactions.

It is common to have nausea, even vomiting or sometimes diarrhoea when Fluoxetine is started in an individual. In most cases the symptoms decrease within one week of starting the drug. So no need to worry from these side effects, these are not due to drug interactions. Please take your medicines as per prescribed doses only.
