Is It Safe To Continue With Advil Or Aleve For Inflammation And Swelling On Face?

A recent visit to an optometrist resulted in the advice to take Advil or Aleve to reduce inflammation and bruising of the face after a serious "face plant" on the cement recently. I had a CT scan done at the hospital and the results were OK. Swelling on the eyebrow is still pretty bad and facial bruising is reducing. I used ice for the first 24 hits. And since, have been alternating warm and cool compresses. Any thoughts ? Bob.

Hi dear ,

It is totally safe to continue advil for inflammation as per prescribed by your doctor . Advil (ibuprofen) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Ibuprofen works by reducing hormones that cause inflammation and pain in the body. There is one thing that you need to take care of is that you should not be allergic to ibuprofen. Continue alternate cold and warm compresses . Also reduce your salt intake and take proper rest . Elevate your head above the level of heart while lying down.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
