Is It Safe To Detoxify Methamphetamine During Pregnancy?

I m 7 months pregnant and I did meth maybe 3 times but it was 2 times at the beginning before I hit four months and I messed up by giving into peer pressure last night and doing it again. How long does it stay in mine and my child s system and what can I do to remove it from mine and my child s system. I don t want my baby taken away. This is my first child.

I am sure it was difficult for you to come forward with this question. As you know, using meth 3 times in your pregnancy is 3 times too many. The baby may already be suffering the consequences. In terms of detoxing, I would recommend that this should happen as an in-patient so you should be admitted to a hospital or centre that is experienced in detoxing pregnant patients. They may use a drug called methadone to detox you. Your baby may still be born pre term or smaller than expected for his gestational age and he may also be born and have methdone withdrawal. But the specialist at the facilities can advise you best. Go to your clinic or hospital and inquire which would be the best facility to detox you as soon as possible.
