Is It Safe To Drink Alcohol Till 7 Weeks Pregnancy?

hi, my friend says she is 3 weeks pregnant but continues to drink. She has told me that her doctor has told her that she is OK to drink up till the 7th week as the placenta is not yet providing nutrients to the body? Would a doctor give this advice? is their any truth in this? Should I be worried that she is harming herself and the baby?

welcome to Health care magic.
1.No its not safe to have alcohol during pregnancy - invariable with the weeks of gestation.
2.There are few anomalies seen in the fetes post alcohol / smoking better avoid.
3.Do not worry about placenta, it has nothing to do with alcohol consumption.
4.No i don't think some one will advise. Suggest your friend to avoid consumption of alcohol during pregnancy.
5.Suggest not to have any kind of addictions during pregnancy. Good luck.
