Hello!
Thank you for asking on HCM!
First of all, I would like to explain you that physical activity has beneficial effects for your heart, blood vessels, and entire body systems. So, it is highly recommended to be involved in frequent physical activities.
But, in order to avoid excessive stress and possible consequent complications, it is recommended a gradual exertion and keeping your vital parameters under close supervision.
I don't know whether you are having any medications for
high blood pressure, or
heart rate controlling agents (beta-blockers, etc), nevertheless, as a general rule it is recommended not to exceed a heart rate of max 140 bpm (90% of your theoretical maximal heart rate, facing your actual age of 70). Everything will depend on your physical endurance and well fitted physical profile, absence of concomitant health problems, etc.
It is advisable to perform an exercise cardiac
stress test before involving in frequent physical activity.
Hope to have been helpful to you! Greetings! Dr. Iliri
